This is my final front cover for the college magazine. I used the color scheme of blue and yellow this is to be contrasting and so that it can stand out and the persons eyes are attracted to the magazine.

The text is easy and clear to read but it is also contemporary which will be needed so that the younger student wants to read it. I ordered the stories in terms of importance or interest at the time. With the font slowly becoming smaller with as the stories become less interesting or just not as important or a story which we don't think is interesting enough.
I thought would be of less interest to the reader. and the yellow backing stands out even more and gives it a layered look making it stand out from the crowd. it also adds interest to the page instead of a bland white background.
The title was also based to add interest and but was also contemporary and not the basic font and word arrange meant which made it unique creating a brand .

This is my contents page i tired to keep it simple as it is the core of the magazine and will help the read easily navigate there way around the magazine with enjoyment.


The bold header with blue background is in keeping with the magazine. to help keep the brand and so that it fits in with the rest of the magazine pages.

The actual contents is in the middle so it is stopped quickly it will have a small pull sentence to make the reader want to find out more and it will have a page number so the reader can skip straight to the article.

I have also added a note from the headteacher to keep students informed with the college changes it also allows the students to have contact with the head and allows the head to quickly spread knowledge or to congratulate the students.

The news bit is to inspire the students into achieving something extraordinary like a sport achievement or an a grade.

The page does seem like a lot of writing so if i was giving the chance i might add more photos to add color this could be put on the news section of the contents page with images of the successful students so that people can see the students and can congratulate them around college.

I like my front cover but i do feel it is still a little plane and i could add a logo to give it abit more detial i should also look at the text as it is very close to the end of the front cover mayvbe making it not look very good if i moved a centre meter in i think itt would be easier to read and look a little better.

This is a flat plan. a simple sketch of what i want the contents and front cover to look like. its only been done with pencil and is a quick sketch.

people in the western world read left to right to to bottom so ive put all the big news in order with the main articles near the top on the left so these articles are read first.

the name of the magazine is going to be near top so that it easy to see and will be in a nbright clored banner so that it stands out from the crowd of magazines. this color will also create a brand which we become recogniasable to the regular readers. i am going to have a large image to make it seem inviting to the reader and wanting to find out more.

the contents page is vital to supply the reader with lots of infomation of about what they are about to read.

i am going to have the page number of every article and short piece of infomation so that the reader can see where they want to read first.

ive also added an area for motivational message from the head to spur students on to try and get the students spured on for education.

i also have a news area so students can see how there peers are getting on.

Photoshoot

The other day. i went out into sussex downs college to get some photos for the college magazine i

am designing. after a couple of photos i decided to settle on one photo. I choosed this photo because he is looking into the cameraand seems happy this is what i want the readers to think sussex downs ia about, a happy fun place to ear. he is also making eyecontact with the reader which is inviting them to open the magazine and read more about him and the other articles

I had to take a few photos to get the photo i wanted. this was one photo which went wrong i didnt use it because he has no eye contact with the potential reader. Not making the magazine seeming inviting or appealing.

U am also going to remove the background. as it is to busy and and will be hard to have text over. disstracting the reader from the actual magazine.

This is my first blog for my preliminary task, I am going to complete a college magazine for sussex downs college.
I am going to use adobe photoshop and adobe indesign. I am going to photograph a student using a medium close up. I will also use apporiate mastheads and laid out texts i am also going to use a mock up of the contents page but this will not require images or detailed text.
